Leg health on the move - top tips for travelers

If you spend a lot of time traveling, you may like to consider the following tips for healthy legs:

  • If sitting or standing, make sure you raise your legs, rotate your toes and move your feet backwards and forwards as much as possible

  • Do five minutes of leg exercises every hour (click here for five minute leg exercises )

  • Remember to sit straight, with both feet on the ground - avoid crossing your legs or slouching

  • Keep hydrated - make sure you pack a water bottle for the journey

  • Try to avoid getting too cold or too hot - both extremes are bad for your legs

  • If you spend a lot of time airborne, walk around as much as possible, choose an aisle seat as it will make it easier for you to move around, stand up and stretch your legs from time to time, avoid excessive alcohol and too much salt in your food, drink plenty of water, avoid crossing your legs and dress comfortably.
