Eat yourself fitter- diet advice for optimal leg health

A poor diet can trigger common leg health issues by putting extra pressure on your veins and arteries.

The keys to a healthy diet are:

  • Reduce the amount of fatty foods you eat

  • Try not to add too much salt to food as this can raise your blood pressure and clog your arteries

  • Eat plenty of fiber

  • Eat a wide range of foods to make sure you're getting a balanced diet

  • Drink enough water - between 6 to 8 glasses a day - and increase the quantity when temperatures increase or in hotter climates

  • Aim for regular meals - smaller and more frequent meals are often best for keeping blood sugar levels steady and avoiding energy dips

  • Foods rich in vitamin C will help make vein walls strong and medications / supplements containing bio-active flaven can also help

  • For more advice on a healthy diet, speak to your physician, nurse or pharmacist, consult a nutritionist, or click here to ask the Antistax® Leg Health Center team a question.
