Common leg issues

Symptoms

Most common symptoms that women with leg issues suffer from are heavy, tired, swollen and achy legs. These can be very bothersome and keep women from being active and enjoying life to the full.

Common leg issues include:

Heavy, tired legs: the feeling that you can't walk another step and an overwhelming urge to crawl into an armchair to rest your aching limbs.

Achy legs: a painful feeling that can be experienced inside and outside the leg.

Swollen legs: when your legs are visibly more swollen, or puffy, than usual.

Visible varicose veins: When your veins are dilated, they often cause swelling and appear blue, stringy and visible through the skin (link to leg vein disorders).

Tingling sensation in the legs: the feeling of restlessness and itching within the legs.

Calf cramps: this is a spasm of your leg muscles and often happens at night and can be very painful.

Restless Legs Syndrome: often combined with a tingling sensation in the legs. Restless legs can be very bothersome especially when you have to sit or stand for a long periods of time. Read more about Restless Legs Syndrome here.

Painful joints: both knees and ankles can feel sore when standing, moving around or when touched.

Water retention: as well as looking more swollen than usual, you can sometimes even feel the excess fluid pooling in your legs.

Lifestyle factors can have a significant influence on the health of your legs. Read about lifestyle factors here.
